The perception of a career in manufacturing needs to change.

A new Manufacturing Institute study found only one in three Americans would encourage their children to pursue manufacturing careers.

Every dollar spent in manufacturing adds $1.37 to the U.S. economy, and every 100 jobs in a manufacturing facility creates an additional 250 jobs in other sectors, yet because of the current skills gap, 2 million jobs will go unfilled over the next decade.

Filling advanced manufacturing jobs in Pittsburgh through the making movement has also become a regional priority.
